We enjoy creating well-organised, easy to use, beautiful to look at websites which get results, and we take every project very seriously.
Whatever your reason for needing a website, you have results in mind. We can help you achieve those results and take the stress out of dealing with the technology zoo. We understand that the majority of people don’t know a lot about the process of getting and managing a website. We also understand that this requires a high level of responsibility on our part and trust on yours, to create what you or your business requires in order to have an effective internet presence.
Our website package options are geared for the most common requirements, but every business is different and we offer add-ons and options which can be provided according to your unique requirements. Call us for a no obligation chat about your website design plans.
The Web Design Process
If you’ve made the decision to have a web site designed or to up-date your out-dated one and are looking for the best deal, we like to think you’ve come to the right place. We offer deals tailored to your unique requirements.
The next step is to discuss what option is right for you and what extra options might be needed to support your internet marketing or search engine optimisation needs. Don’t worry, we will be sure to explain all the technical details and discuss what might or might not be needed and what will work for your unique website.
Our initial discussion will help us discover what your business requires in order to have an effective web presence. We’ll happily answer any questions you have, and we’ll also give you whatever advice we can regarding the best way to have your website do what it’s supposed to do – promote your business services to a wider audience.
Our discussion will include your design expectations such as colour schemes, layout, content, graphics and photos, and other technical necessities like domain registration, server hosting, online marketing, search engine optimisation, and ongoing website management.
Your Website Content
The packages we offer cover the cost of designing your website. As the website owner, it is your responsibility to provide all the content for your website. Content includes your logo, your page text, photos and videos. We can provide all of those things as well but they are separate costs to your website design. We will be happy to quote on such things as logo design, content writing, stock photos, video advertising, search engine optimisation, social networking campaigns and so on.
If you are already organised with your content, then there will be no more to pay on any of our packages. However for those clients who are busy or ‘content challenged’, thats OK too. We can help to produce your material and it may not be as expensive as you might think. Every package is flexible. Contact us for a no obligation chat, or ask us to contact you.
Once you have decided to employ our services to design or manage the development of your website, or update an existing website, we will provide you with a detailed Website Design Agreement for your chosen package or service as well as an estimated time of production. This is to ensure you are fully aware of what we will be providing for you and that the whole procedure is as transparent as possible for both parties.
Our Website Design Agreement will need to be signed and dated prior to your website production. At this time we will require the advance payment specified for the chosen package or quote. Once we have received your payment together with all the required content, we will move on to production of your new website.
Confused about anything to do with websites?
Don’t understand some of the terminology or processes? You aren’t alone!
Some of the questions and answers below might shed light on what you need to know, but if you have any questions that aren’t answered here then send a message, call us, or conjure up a smoke-signal. We’ll do our best shatter or confirm any rumours or hype and provide the best advice we possibly can.
Who provides the content for my website?
It is not your web designers job to collate or write the material which will fill your website pages, unless you have contracted them to do so. This includes sourcing or providing images such as photos and other artwork, especially if such items are unique to your business. Once we have established what you can or cannot provide for your website, we will be able to quote accordingly.
Can I use my business logo and branding colours?
Certainly. It is good marketing to use your logo also your company colour scheme. We will supply you with a design brief template/questionnaire to fill out in which you can list your company colours or colour preferences. If you are starting up a business we can help you with a logo design and branding material for both web and print.
How long will it take to build my website?
Once we have all your material to hand, the design process can be very quick for a small to average website. Two to three weeks would be an approximate timeline, but larger and more complex websites may take more development time depending on requirements. Prompt decision making on your part will help to keep the design time on track as well.
Will we need to have a face to face meeting to discuss the website design?
In most cases a face to face meeting isn’t necessary. The majority of our websites are completed via email exchange, Skype calls and/or telephone only. We place your new website onto the internet at a private address where only you can view it and make decisions or provide input into its progress, depending on the unique contract we have with you. Once the project is ready to go live to the public, we make it happen, but not before you have approved it.
What is a ‘domain’ and what is ‘web hosting’?
Your domain name is the address or the ‘name’ of your website, for example: mywebsite.com.au. You don’t own your domain name but register it for renewable periods of time, usually one to two years. A web or server hosting account provides space for your website to be stored online where it is available for everyone to see. There are different types of server hosting available. We provide server hosting for our clients and ensure the websites we host are secure, but you can have your own hosting account elsewhere if you prefer. Most of our clients like to know we are looking after their websites for them.
Are the cost of the domain and web hosting included in your rates?
Both your domain name and your server hosting will be ongoing costs paid in advance annually or bi-annually. The first year can be built in to your website development cost. If you are starting a business it is a good idea to discuss with us the best domain name to choose and the type of server hosting most appropriate to your website requirements.
What’s the difference between a .com and .com.au and which one is better for my business?
A domain name that has a .com.au address is specific to Australian businesses. An Australian ABN is required. A .domain name with the suffix ‘.com’ might be a great choice for any product or service that you want to market internationally, but not for an Australian based business. You can learn more about domain names here.
Do I have to be in the same town to take advantage of your services?
Definitely not! The wonderful thing about todays technology is that we can be based anywhere and still able to communicate in real time using email, phone and Skype. We recommend Skype because skype to skype calling is free, a Skype account is free, and it is possible to share screens using Skype. If you have an expensive phone plan, don’t worry – we are happy to call you.
How do I get my website to come up in a Google search?
Any website we design is optimised for search engines as much as possible using standard on-page SEO, however this won’t guarantee you a listing on the first page of a Google search. Appearing on the first page of a Google search for key words which represent your website requires on-going work to achieve and to maintain your website’s position there. We recommend you read our Search Engine Optimisation page to learn more about SEO.
What is Search Engine Optimisation (SEO)?
Search Engine Optimisation or ‘SEO’ is the process of getting your website indexed or ranked by search engines so that it is found when a particular search term is typed into a search engine. It is important to use ‘key words’ in your content and website code which relate to your products and services which people are likely to search for. For example: ‘mechanic adelaide’.
Why is Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) so expensive?
A great deal of on-going time and knowledge goes into achieving effective SEO for any website. If your subject, product or service has a lot of competition, then the process is even more difficult. Depending on your unique requirements, optimising your website beyond standard practices will be best handled by specialists. We will be happy to explain in more detail with no obligation. Some businesses may not require expensive SEO work if they have unique key words and are proactive about their internet marketing. If you aren’t sure, please ask and we can explain.
What about future changes and updates to my website after it is live?
We don’t abandon you once your website is live and will be glad to provide an ongoing maintenance service for you, however an hourly or annual rate for on-going website changes may be charged. Every website has unique requirements. Whatever on-going work may be required will be discussed at development time so there will be no surprises.
What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept Paypal, direct bank transfers, cheques, money orders or cash.
